McCrory\u2019s decision on whether to promote Nancy Lamb to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=1105\">district attorney<\/a>, another key figure in the Little Rascals prosecution is stepping aside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">From the Elizabeth City Daily Advance:<\/p>\n<p class=\"style384\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">EDENTON \u2013 Judge Chris Bean, chief district court judge in the 1st Judicial District, does not plan to seek re-election to another term.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style384\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Bean, who has been a judge for more than two decades, said recently he plans to step down when his current term ends in December 2014.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style384\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cI have been doing this for 20-some years,\u201d Bean said. \u201cIt has been a fascinating career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Unmentioned by Judge Bean (or by the Advance, which seems to have purged Little Rascals from its memory)\u00a0 is his deeply prejudicial\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=1003\">testimony<\/a>\u00a0against former client Bob Kelly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Bean and Lamb have continued to share an immunity to just consequences. (Compare the enormity of the Little Rascals prosecution with the penny-ante\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbar.com\/discipline\/\" target=\"_blank\">misconduct<\/a>\u00a0that typically brings about disbarment in North Carolina.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Only their innocent victims \u2013 the Edenton Seven, the child witnesses \u2013 paid a price, and it was a high one indeed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nov. 8, 2013 While we await Gov.
