\u2013 Johnson Britt, Robeson County (N.C.) district attorney, acceding to\u00a0release of two defendants\u00a0<\/em>cleared by DNA testing<\/em><\/a>\u00a0after serving almost\u00a031 years each for the rape and murder of a 11-year-old girl<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cYou find a cigarette, you say it has (a different suspect\u2019s) DNA on it, but so what? It\u2019s just a cigarette, and absent some direct connection to the actual killing, what have you got? Do you have exoneration? I don\u2019t think so….<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a tragic day for justice in Robeson County…. Apparently the district attorney just threw up his hands and capitulated.\u201d\u00a0More here<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2013 Now-retired DA Joe Freeman Britt (no relation to Johnson Britt),\u00a0acknowledging not an iota of doubt \u2013 \u201c<\/em>None. None<\/em><\/a>.\u201d \u2013 that\u00a0the two men he prosecuted in 1984 were guilty as charged<\/em><\/p>\n Hats off to Johnson Britt for breaking the prosecutorial code of arrogance (although that\u2019s always easier when the mistake happened on a predecessor\u2019s watch).<\/p>\n And what is there to say about Joe Freeman Britt, the coldblooded \u201cdeadliest prosecutor in America<\/a>\u201d?<\/p>\n
