had asked the Bar to hold Sebesta accountable for withholding critical evidence of his innocence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c \u2018The bar stepped in to say that\u2019s not the way our criminal justice system should work,\u2019 Graves said. \u2018This is a good day for justice.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u2013 From \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com\/2016\/02\/state-bar-board-affirms-disbarrment-of-prosecutor-who-sent-innocent-man-to-death-row.html\/\" target=\"_blank\">State Bar board affirms<\/a> disbarment of prosecutor who sent innocent man to death row\u201d\u00a0by Brandi Grissom in the Dallas Morning News (Feb. 8)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Legal scholar Jonathan Turley notes that \u201cSebesta\u2019s conduct was shocking but remains a relatively rare <a href=\"https:\/\/jonathanturley.org\/2016\/02\/09\/texas-state-bar-votes-to-disbar-former-prosecutor-for-role-in-conviction-of-innocent-man\/\" target=\"_blank\">example of prosecutors being held accountable<\/a>\u00a0in such cases of prosecutorial abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although the Texas Bar displayed little eagerness to bring a prosecutor to justice \u2013 and disbarment is a petty consequence indeed for the enormity of Sebesta\u2019s malfeasance \u2013 its response seems darn near heroic compared with the shameful vindictiveness we have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=1944\">come to expect from the North Carolina Bar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1707\" src=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/LRDCC20.jpg\" alt=\"LRDCC20\" width=\"132\" height=\"20\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Feb. 13, 2016 \u201cThe disciplinary board of the Texas State Bar on Monday affirmed the agency\u2019s decision to disbar Charles Sebesta, the former prosecutor who oversaw the wrongful death sentence of Anthony Graves. \u201cGraves, who spent 18 years in prison, including 12 on death row, for a fiery multiple murder he did not commit&#8230;
