William Barber also called on Gov. Pat McCrory to establish a task force to recommend ways\u00a0to strengthen protections against wrongful convictions&#8230;.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCooper&#8217;s office said a meeting was held with Barber and representatives of the NAACP: \u2018We look forward to working with them\u00a0to address systemic issues in the criminal justice system.\u201d Cooper also wants more money for N.C. Innocence Inquiry Commission,\u00a0which has been involved in releasing eight innocent men.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMcCrory&#8217;s office didn&#8217;t&#8230; respond to Barber&#8217;s comments&#8230;.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u2013 From \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueridgenow.com\/article\/20160324\/NEWS\/160329883?p=2&amp;tc=pg\" target=\"_blank\">NAACP: Attorney General should review wrongful convictions<\/a>\u201d\u00a0by Martha Waggoner of the Associated Press (March 24) (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=2091\">text cache<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The latest addition to the long list of questionable North Carolina convictions <a href=\"http:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/news\/special-reports\/death-by-the-river\/article69619262.html\" target=\"_blank\">comes from Gaston County<\/a>\u00a0(thank you, Elizabeth Leland of the Charlotte Observer).
