All you do is tell people there\u2019s a vast segment of humanity that wants to prey on their children. You tell them that these predatory people aren\u2019t like us \u2013 they\u2019re outsiders with different values. And you make sure that the talking heads on TV keep the story alive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs it possible that a moral panic could happen today?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust ask <a href=\"http:\/\/wcqs.org\/post\/nc-gov-mccrory-claims-political-left-fed-emergence-transgender-issues#stream\/0\" target=\"_blank\">Gov. Pat McCrory<\/a>,\u00a0who has cost his state millions of dollars defending a law that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/news\/politics-government\/article68401147.html\" target=\"_blank\">allegedly protects North Carolina children<\/a>\u00a0from transgender bathroom-goers \u2013 a statewide crisis that suddenly popped into existence during an election year, conveniently enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoral panics still exist, and they\u2019re still absurd.
