[Her] research and books cover topics such as serial killers and rapists, kidnapping, sexual victimization and exploitation of children, cyber crimes, sexual abuse, and elder abuse&#8230;.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u2013 From \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bc.edu\/bc-web\/bcnews\/science-tech-and-health\/nursing\/nursing-professor-named-living-legend.html\" target=\"_blank\">A \u2018Living Legend<\/a>\u2019 \u201d\u00a0by Kathleeen Sullivan in the BC [Boston College] News (Aug. 23)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Yet again, a key fomenter of the \u201csatanic ritual abuse\u201d day care panic takes a career achievement bow, plowing unapologetically past the wrecked lives of the wrongfully prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how Debbie Nathan and Michael Snedeker described Burgess in 2001 in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Satans-Silence-Ritual-Making-American\/dp\/0595189555\" target=\"_blank\">Satan\u2019s Silence<\/a>: Ritual Abuse and the Making of a\u00a0 Modern American Witch Hunt\u201d:\u00a0\u201cpromoter of the use of children\u2019s drawings to diagnose sexual abuse, developer of the idea of the sex ring, participant in developing the case that imprisoned the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=1524\">Amirault family<\/a>\u00a0and currently a researcher into the traumatic aftereffects of ritual abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Most grievous for the Little Rascals defendants, it was Ann Wolbert Burgess who led a three-day conference in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=129\">Kill Devil Hills<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0just months before Bob Kelly\u2019s arrest. The agenda: learning how to spot child molesters operating day-care facilities.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve asked Professor Burgess to look back at her role in Little Rascals.
