Stern gave <a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=2718\">a presentation<\/a>\u00a0that clearly\u00a0acknowledged your organization\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=3vAuI0VzMN8C&amp;pg=PA135&amp;dq=apsac+and+satanic&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwiuxtiIqu_PAhVDNSYKHerDDYEQ6AEIHDAA#v=onepage&amp;q=apsac%20and%20satanic&amp;f=false\" target=\"_blank\">role in fostering<\/a>\u00a0the \u2018satanic ritual\u00a0abuse\u2019 day-care panic of\u00a0 the 1980s and early \u201990s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Stern, a prosecutor and longtime APSAC official, was only illuminating\u00a0from the inside a reality long recognized among virtually all respected\u00a0professionals and academics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am writing today to request that the American Professional Society on the\u00a0Abuse of Children formally renounce its advocacy of the \u2018satanic ritual\u00a0abuse\u2019 myth and apologize to its victims.\u00a0 The \u2018misguided ideas\u2019 cited by\u00a0Mr. Stern not only supported wrongful prosecutions and incarcerations, but\u00a0also profoundly misled children, parents and the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reputation of APSAC will remain tainted as long as it fails to make\u00a0amends for this seminal part of its history.\u00a0 If the International\u00a0Association of Chiefs of Police can apologize for\u00a0 \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2016\/10\/17\/us\/police-chiefs-group-minorities-apology\/\" target=\"_blank\">the actions of the past\u00a0and the role that our profession has played<\/a>\u00a0in society&#8217;s historical\u00a0mistreatment of communities of color,\u2019 then surely APSAC can similarly\u00a0mitigate the damages caused by its own actions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u2013 From a letter I sent to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janetrosenzweig.com\/about-dr-rosenzweig\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Janet Rosenzweig<\/a>,\u00a0executive director,\u00a0American Professional Society on the\u00a0Abuse of Children<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1707\" src=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/LRDCC20.jpg\" alt=\"LRDCC20\" width=\"132\" height=\"20\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oct. 22, 2016 \u201cAt APSAC\u2019s June Colloquium, Paul J.
