Among its allies:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.d2l.org\/atf\/cf\/{64AF78C4-5EB8-45AA-BC28-F7EE2B581919}\/YMCAs%20Seek%20Community%20Help%20Against%20Child%20Sexual%20Abuse.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">YMCAs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Unfortunately, D2L is less than meticulous in associating itself with other organizations. This is a letter I sent D2L officials on Dec. 5:<\/p>\n<p class=\"style198\">Darkness to Light does a disservice to the public and to your cause when you include on your list of resources the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivorship.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Survivorship<\/a>\u00a0website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style198\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-337\" src=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/120116BrickMug.jpg\" alt=\"120116BrickMug\" width=\"120\" height=\"180\" \/>Survivorship\u2019s board president is Neil Brick, who identifies himself as \u201cthe founder of S.M.A.R.T. (Stop Mind Control and Ritual Abuse Today) at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ritualabuse.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/ritualabuse.us<\/a>. He is a survivor of ritual abuse and a survivor advocate. He works on developing supports for survivors and getting information out to the general public about ritual abuse. He runs yearly ritual abuse conferences on the east coast of the United States every year at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ritualabuse.us\/smart-conference\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/ritualabuse.us\/smart-conference<\/a>. Links to his presentation transcripts and research papers are\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ritualabuse.us\/smart\/neil-brick\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/ritualabuse.us\/smart\/neil-brick<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style198\">S.M.A.R.T. is perhaps the most prominent organization still insisting that numerous day-care providers in the 1980s and early 1990s subjected children to \u201csatanic ritual abuse.\u201d Although the day-care panic eventually waned and courts freed nearly all the unfortunate defendants, S.M.A.R.T.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ritualabuse.us\/smart-conference\/2011-conference\/the-myth-of-panic-exposing-theories-used-to-cover-up-ritual-abuse-crimes\/\" target=\"_blank\">continues to see abuse<\/a>\u00a0in every one of these cases \u2013 from McMartin to Little Rascals to Fells Acres, etc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style198\">Like Scientologists and Holocaust deniers, S.M.A.R.T. has been banned from editing Wikipedia entries. Neither should its disinformation campaign be given a platform by Darkness to Light.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Darkness to Light has yet to respond to that letter or to a Dec. 30 follow-up soliciting \u201ca statement explaining why you continue to support this organization.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019d be happy to publish such an explanation, but even happier to learn that D2L has cut its ties to the ritual abuse movement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jan. 16, 2012 Darkness to Light\u00a0is a Charleston-based nonprofit with the goal \u201cEnd Child Abuse.\u201d Since its founding in 2000, D2L claims to have trained adults in 48 states and 10 foreign countries in how to prevent, recognize and react to child sexual abuse.
