{"id":739,"date":"2012-12-03T13:54:01","date_gmt":"2012-12-03T13:54:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=739"},"modified":"2016-01-11T12:27:09","modified_gmt":"2016-01-11T12:27:09","slug":"in-raleigh-even-justice-delayed-is-hard-to-come-by","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=739","title":{"rendered":"In Raleigh, even justice delayed is hard to come by"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"style187\" style=\"text-align: right;\">Dec. 3, 2012<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Exoneration is in the air!<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">From\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/texas-newspaper\/texas-news\/title-of-the-video\/\" target=\"_blank\">Texas<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.villagevoice.com\/2012-11-21\/film\/the-central-park-five-reminds-us-there-is-no-singular-new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\">New York<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 and of course here in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=664\">North Carolina<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 more and more prosecutorial abuses are being dug up, dusted off and exposed to long-delayed doses of daylight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">If you\u2019re keeping score, the National Registry of Exoneration has just hit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.upi.com\/Top_News\/US\/2012\/10\/30\/Exoneration-list-grew-quickly-to-1000\/UPI-79531351602151\/#axzz2DAIi9qz1\" target=\"_blank\">quadruple digits<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 that\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=530\">Bob Kelly, Dawn Wilson<\/a>\u00a0and 998 other wrongfully convicted defendants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">So what are the prospects that the State of North Carolina will at last release a Duke-lacrosse-style statement of innocence for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=599\">Edenton Seven<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Since last summer, when my petition was kissed off by Mark Davis, general counsel to Gov. Bev Perdue, and I was advised to try Attorney General Roy Cooper, not a peep has been heard in response. It would take a greater optimist than me to believe this silence suggests ongoing thoughtful contemplation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">As the governor prepares to leave office, a valued ally of littlerascalsdaycarecase.org used his access to lobby on behalf of the defendants.
