Fredrickson&#8230; all say about behaviors of children who are sexually abused?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style173\" style=\"text-align: right;\">\u00a0<em>\u2013 From Nancy Lamb\u2019s closing argument in the trial of Bob Kelly (March 23, 1992)<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Although Lamb was understandably pleased with her parade of expert witnesses, their testimony brought only discredit to themselves, to their professions and to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, especially its School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">The prosecution called on psychologist\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=552\">Mark \u201cWhere there\u2019s smoke&#8230;.\u201d Everson<\/a>\u00a0to explain away the child-witnesses\u2019 wild inconsistencies and on pediatricians Smith, Runyan and Fredrickson to serve as \u201ceducators of the jury\u201d about the case\u2019s dubious physical evidence. (As detailed in this article in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/130301SmithRunyanFredrickson.pdf\">Journal of Child Sexual Abuse<\/a>, the pediatricians overreached but at least testified with less enthusiasm and more caution than Everson.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">One Chapel Hill faculty member, however, wasn\u2019t fooled by the funhouse mirrors.
