He knows every sordid detail and I pity you for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style173\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u2013 From a statement read by Little Rascals parent Susan Small\u00a0at the\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/news.google.com\/newspapers?nid=1454&amp;dat=19940617&amp;id=hrQsAAAAIBAJ&amp;sjid=MBUEAAAAIBAJ&amp;pg=6937,680187\" target=\"_blank\"><em>plea-agreement hearing of Scott Privott<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0(June 16, 1994)<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">On the scale of responsibility for brutalizing the Edenton Seven, the panicked, misinformed parents may rank as least culpable. They were neither demagoguing public servants (the prosecutors) nor overreaching professionals (the therapists). Even so, Susan Small\u2019s tirade seemed gratuitously vitriolic \u2013 as if her own beliefs might have needed reinforcing?<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">I asked\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlerascalsdaycarecase.org\/?p=327\">Scott Privott<\/a>\u00a0what it felt like being on the receiving end that day in the courtroom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">\u201cI almost got up and told her to shut the hell up and that I would let the state put me on trial,\u201d he said. \u201cI thought to myself that I was glad God would judge me and not her and her pathetic cohorts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Scott\u2019s recollection of his earlier knowledge of Susan Small highlights the Lilliputian stage on which the sprawling Little Rascals drama played out:<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">\u201cI was in college with Susan Small&#8217;s husband, Morris; in fact, Morris and I used to ride together from Edenton to Elizabeth City to attend classes at the College of the Albemarle. Susan was at the college too, but I didn&#8217;t know her that well. Morris was my banker at the time of my arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">A third member of the car pool:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.google.com\/newspapers?nid=1876&amp;dat=19910905&amp;id=_LEeAAAAIBAJ&amp;sjid=6c4EAAAAIBAJ&amp;pg=6827,1567273\" target=\"_blank\">Jay Swicegood, another accusing parent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">\u201cI am not like some of those who&#8217;ve been falsely accused and hold no ill feelings,\u201d Scott says. \u201cI have plenty of ill feelings, and I do not for one moment wish them any good tidings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Idle thought: Might it mitigate Scott\u2019s bitterness if someone \u2013 anyone! \u2013 who participated in putting him behind bars for three years and eight months had the courage to apologize?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>April 17, 2013 \u201cOne day you will stand before almighty God and be accountable for that which you have done here on Earth, and no amount of lies and manipulation, no \u2018Frontline\u2019 presentation will be able to hide the truth from him.
