Court of Appeals ruling that ordered a new trial for Kelly and Kathryn Dawn Wilson. Everyone who cares about justice should join in a standing ovation for the court\u2019s common-sense ruling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">\u201cFat chance of that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">\u201cThe prosecution, led by Attorney General Mike Easley, has already begun its campaign to discredit the ruling as a nitpicking exercise that found minor technicalities in the state\u2019s longest and most expensive trial&#8230;.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style173\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u2013 From \u201cJustice unlikely for Kelly\u201d by News &amp; Observer columnist\u00a0Dennis Rogers (May 9, 1995)<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">Easley said he would petition the N.C. Supreme Court to review the cases immediately: \u201cThe decision casts no doubt on the credibility of the children or the integrity of the investigation&#8230;. In both cases, the facts supporting the convictions were clear and overwhelming. (The appeals court) disregarded these facts and misapplied the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.google.com\/newspapers?nid=1734&amp;dat=19950517&amp;id=3O4bAAAAIBAJ&amp;sjid=CFMEAAAAIBAJ&amp;pg=6871,1518236\" target=\"_blank\">Wilson Daily Times<\/a>\u00a0opined that \u201cEasley\u2019s vow to appeal the overturning is futile, and he knows it. &#8230; Easley tried to play tough prosecutor&#8230; implying the convictions were thrown out because of technical indiscretions. But he well knows that the errors in the trials were substantial and egregious (and) made a mockery of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"style184\">\u00a0Four months later, when the N.C.
